Getting to Know Our Farm...

DeLovely Farm began in 1972 in Rockport, Indiana.

Duchess DeLovely was the walk-trot mare for which the new farm in Rockport, Indiana would be named.  DeLovely Farm is known for its development of juvenile and amateur riders who compete at the highest levels of our breed with the utmost success in both equitation and performance. Riders of all levels are welcome and a beginner program is offered as well.

While Saddle Horses have been the mainstay at DeLovely since its inception, Raymond also has become a specialist in another area of our show horse industry: roadster horses. Dubbed as the Master of Faster, Raymond has enjoyed a career-long association with Standardbred show horses.

RAYMOND SHIVELY

Raymond ShivelyOne of the most respected horse show judges in the saddle horse industry, Raymond also has one of the best nicknames. Raymond has won this class a remarkable 17 times since 1982, and has remained undefeated in this class for the past 10 years, with such Champions as Power Ranger, Invincible Summer, When & Where, and 5 time WGC Big Red. LILLIAN SHIVELY

Lillian ShivelyLillian has been the instructor for over 80 different riders to win World and National Equitation Championship titles, and she has been the instructor of six triple crown winners. There have been a few others who have also won the triple crown titles- their crowning happened over a few seasons. Lillian has won numerous awards from her peers in the breed. Most recently, Lillian and Raymond were the first recipients to receive the UPHA Lifetime Achievement Award during the year end convention held in New Orleans.

Lillian’s attention to detail is what has made her such a successful riding instructor. Goal setting, determination, hard work and the desire to succeed are many qualities that she asks of her riders. Since DeLovely has many riders that often compete against each other, Lillian’s favorite quote is about friendship: “Leave your friendship at the in gate, and pick it up at the out gate.”

TODD MILES

Raymond ShivelyTodd began his partnership with DeLovely Farm in 1983. One of the youngest trainers to ever win the Five Gaited World Grand Championship with CH Onion in 1995, Todd repeated his victory 10 years later with the young and untried Five O’Clock, a testament to his ability to prepare a horse for the big stage. Todd also wowed the crowd in 2005 with his performance with CH Manila Thrilla to win the Three Gaited World Grand Championship, and repeated that win in 2006. He is one of only four trainers in the history of the Kentucky State Fair- World Championship to have won both the Three Gaited World's Grand Championship and the Five Gaited World's Grand Championship in the same year.

Todd is also well known for his ability to prepare horses for the juvenile performance and equitation alike and amateur riders. Todd has also prepared the equitation horses for all of Lillian’s Triple Crown Champions with the exception of one; he wasn’t employed at the farm at the time Jama Hedden won with Glenview’s Warlock.
